The 2015 Edgeworth Mock Caldecott Award
Each January the Association for Library Service to Children announces the winner of the Caldecott Award. This annual award is given to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children.

The award is named for Randolph Caldecott, an 19th century illustrator. The first place award is gold. Runners-up or Honor Books are given a silver award.

Each November through January, Edgeworth students in Kindergarten, First, and Second graders participate in our Mock Caldecott Award program.

Each week, we look at a picture book and learn about the illustrator's creative process, we discuss how the artwork is:
  • noted for significant achievement
  • marked by excellence in quality
  • individually distinct

During the week prior to the official Caldecott announcement, the students cast their own ballots selecting the book that they think should win the award. The Gold Medal Winner and 2 Honor Books are announced on morning announcements.
